A commitment to delivering safe, quality patient care is at the very core of what makes a great physician, and ICRE is dedicated to offering critical, cutting-edge knowledge to those involved in residency training programs.
The practical and pedagogical lessons that will be taught through the Education for patient safety Learning Track at ICRE 2015 are valuable ones, and will help contribute to improved care for future generations.
Here are just a few examples of the exciting workshops and sessions being offered under this track:
- ASPIRE-ing towards safer patient care: Practical approaches to teaching patient safety: Designed especially for program directors, clinician educators and curriculum developers, this interactive workshop will show participants how to use case-based learning to teach about patient safety culture; re-organize morbidity; and mortality rounds. When: Saturday, October 24, 11:00-12:30 (PDT).
- Tailoring quality improvement plans for residency training: Teaching residents about quality patient care is a significant undertaking; and one that rarely can be tackled through a one-size-fits-all approach. This session (designed for program directors, supervisors, residents, and accreditors) will show participants how to tailor quality improvement plans and create further awareness amongst professionals about their influence on quality. When: Friday, October 23, 13:30-15:00 (PDT).
- What’s new in CanMEDS 2015? Incorporating safety and quality competencies in your program: As a nod to the CanMEDS 2015 Framework launch taking place at this year’s conference, this session takes an in-depth look at how patient safety and quality improvement have been integrated into the project to implement a competency-based medical education approach to residency education and specialty practice in Canada. When: Friday, October 23, 15:30-17:00 (PDT).
