Please read through our checklist carefully to find out everything you need to know before arriving onsite for ICRE 2016.
ICRE 2016 Mobile App
The official ICRE 2016 mobile app will be launching next week – so keep your eyes peeled for our big announcement! The app includes valuable information about ICRE, including floor plans, speaker bios, program schedules, conference abstracts, session evaluations, and much more.
New for 2016, our app will also contain exclusive conference extras, including an interactive exhibit hall challenge, and the special ‘Frame It’ photo feature.

Please note – in an effort to go green, ICRE 2016 will only be offering a limited number of printed pocket (Z-card) programs onsite. Several desktop computers will also be available to access the program online, and/or to complete session evaluations.
The majority of ICRE 2016 conference activities will take place at the Scotiabank Convention Centre (6815 Stanley Ave., Niagara Falls, ON).
Programming for select concurrent workshops (September 30 – October 1), pre-conference sessions and social events will take place at the Marriott on the Falls (6755 Fallsview Blvd., Niagara Falls, ON) and the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa (6740 Fallsview Blvd.).
Be sure to take careful note of the venue location(s) and the room name(s) of the sessions you are attending. Several of this year’s venues have the same or similar-sounding room names.

Participants staying at one of our official conference hotels will enjoy a short walking distance from all meeting locations, and spectacular views of the Falls!
All hotels are located in close proximity to each other, so please be sure to confirm the name and precise address of your hotel before arriving in Niagara Falls:

Don’t forget: Those who have booked a room at one of our conference hotels will automatically be entered into a draw to win free registration to ICRE 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia!
Hotel cancellation policy: Cancellation of individual reservations must be made a minimum of 72 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date to avoid cancellation penalties.
Onsite registration for ICRE 2016 will open on Tuesday, September 27 at 3 p.m. (EST) in the Main Lobby of the Scotiabank Convention Centre.
Tickets for the International Residency Education Awards Dinner are still available, and can be purchased onsite at the registration desk.
ICRE 2016 officially kicks off with our conference opening plenary on Thursday, September 29 at 4 p.m. (EST) at the Scotiabank Convention Centre (Exhibition Hall A).
Keynote speaker Dr. Kaveh G. Shojania will deliver a dynamic lecture entitled Teaching healthcare quality: The next evidence-based medicine.
Directly following the opening plenary is the much-anticipated ICRE Welcoming Reception, taking place at 5:30 p.m. (EST) in Exhibition Hall B. Meet up with friends and colleagues, enjoy hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and explore our exhibits!
Exhibit Hall and Exhibit Challenge
The Exhibit Hall will open on Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m. (EST)
New for ICRE 2016, the interactive Exhibit Challenge will replace the traditional Conference Exhibit Passport. Available exclusively on the ICRE 2016 mobile app, the Exhibit Challenge encourages conference participants to engage and network with this year’s exhibitors, while competing to win one of two iPads.
Winners will be drawn and announced during the conference closing plenary on Saturday, October 1. Please note: In order to qualify for a prize, Exhibit Challenge answers must be submitted via the mobile app by 16:00 on Saturday, October 1.
All selected winners must be in attendance at the ICRE closing plenary, in order to claim their prize.
While exploring the Exhibit Hall, don’t forget to visit the following, interactive booths:

- Get Connected @ ICRE tech help hub/virtual posters display
- The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons’ booth; which will walk you through the vision of Competence by Design (CBD), and leave you with a better understanding of how together we will transform medical education in Canada.

Those who have pre-registered for a scheduled meeting with a medical education (MedEd) expert through our Mentorship Program are asked to meet their selected mentors (at the pre-determined time) at the Get Connected @ ICRE booth, located in Exhibition Hall B (Scotiabank Convention Centre).
Haven’t signed up yet for a mentorship session? Residents or early career physicians interested in networking with and receiving invaluable, one-on-one professional development advice from a MedEd mentor onsite at ICRE 2016 still have time to book an appointment!
ICRE registrants have until Thursday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. (EST) to book an appointment for Friday, September 30.
For appointments taking place on Saturday, October 1, registration will remain open until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 30.
ICRE Chief Residents
ICRE 2016 marks the inaugural year of our conference’s Chief Resident program, where three outstanding resident leaders acted as representatives and advocates for the international resident community throughout the planning and preparation for the meeting.
Dr. Stephen Gauthier (University of Toronto; @SteveGauthier_), Dr. Peter Moore (Australian Orthopaedic Association; @PMoore99) and Dr. Brie Yama (University of Toronto; @BrieYama) will all be onsite in Niagara Falls, September 29 – October 1, so be sure to strike up a conversation, or follow them on social media throughout the conference!

Airport shuttles, private charters, public transportation, taxis and car rentals are all available to take you from your airport/train terminal to your hotel.
Dress for ICRE 2016 is business casual. You are encouraged to bring a jacket or sweater to the conference site, as the temperature in meeting rooms is typically cooler.
The city of Niagara Falls has a humid continental climate, which is moderated by its close proximity to large bodies of water, including Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
In autumn, daily high temperatures from September – November generally range from 22° to 8° degrees Celsius (72° to 46° degrees Fahrenheit).
